The presumption of innocence, is the assumption of any suspected offense as innocent until proven guilty according to lawful procedures, is the "mirror" of any legal culture. It may not be explicitly mentioned in the Constitution but it is a constituent element of both the constitutional guarantees and more generally the principle of the rule of law. In this field, Greece’s performance is far from satisfactory.
